Friday May 16, 2014   Liahona High School Career Day
The Students had the opportunity to tell about their desired occupation or "act it out."
Peni Tonga and Bishop Guttenbeil entices the students into the gym with their "Music".

The guest speaker was none other than a "special Missionary" known for her entertaining presentations.
This one was based on the story about the "TURKENDUOSE".   (They are still wondering if there is such a bird!)
BUT...over 1000 students quietly listened to her tale!

Many sang and danced, but I especially enjoyed the Non-traditional....the ART students....
....And the Welding Class....They were hilarious!!!
Wrap up of "Career Day" with the counselors.  Little Vika Kivalu, Sis. Aland, Big Vika Kaufusi, and...
the key note speaker...Sister Meyers!

Friday evening our Relief Society put on a Cultural Training and Dinner for all the Senior Missionaries.

They displayed all the types of Ta`ovalas worn in Tonga and when they are worn.

.....more Ta`ovalas.

Funeral Ta`ovalas and Sione is explaining the Tongan funeral customs.

These are different types of Wedding Ta`ovalas.  They are still worn when married by the Kingdom laws
before they go to the Temple. (within 2 days)  Only the Kingdom marriage is recognized here,
so it is performed first.  They also taught us about all their woven mats and Taupa mats.  Wealth is
determined by the number of mats that you own, not by how much money you have.
