Friday, August 22, 2014 Stake Dance at Liahona Gym It is always a family event and the young kids are not timid about getting out first to dance!
Our dear friends, Maopa and Sione Finau. She is our Department Head and teaches Fashion Design.
Maopa loves to dance and believe it or not....she got me out to dance. Mom and I have danced more this year in Tonga than we have in the last 46 years combined!
Wow...even Senior Missionaries get excited about a package from home. It included all our favorites, including cinnamon bears and twizzlers from CAL stores.
Back in the shop demonstrating how to turn bowls. This one is Monkey Pod.
There was time to do two. This one is Milo wood and has a rainbow of colors.
Now it is back to the serious task of cleaning up two more lathes that are obviously in serious need of repair and rust removal. Rust is a constant issue here due to the high humidity.
The day could not be complete without a visit to Bishop Niu's humble shop.
We gathered wood together months ago at the ocean and he finally made some carvings with his pieces.
He had whales, shark and a stingray from ngingie wood.
Elder Burger always wears his light weight coveralls for his early morning walks, so it was only appropriate to have a pair of Tongan overalls custom made for him!
We all needed a little break from a crazy week so it is off to the ocean to with Hamblin's and Elder Burger to watch the sunset.
The weather was calm, but must have been stormy somewhere, because the waves were really wild!
The day would not be complete without another shot of a Tongan sunset.
Rhett and I want to know what the turtle is made out of?? What else does the bishop make?
ReplyDeleteThat turtle is pretty incredible. So are the whales, sharks and sting rays. Some how he needs to sell his artwork in the US. What an amazing talent.
